… the Conseil is an organization independant of Public Administration and of the tribunals under its jurisdiction
The Conseil de la justice administrative was instituted on April 1, 1998, when the Act respecting administrative justice came into force.
The Council is a unique organization within the context of administrative justice in Canada, even in North America. It has certain similarities with the monitoring body of the judiciary in Canada, such as the Conseil de la magistrature du Québec, but its functions and composition are different.
The Council is a monitoring body that is impartial and independant of public administration and of the tribunals under its jurisdiction.
Since its institution, the Council has developed a vast expertise regarding the conduct of administrative judges allowing it to fulfil its mandate with care, dispatch and professionalism.
